First Ever 5K Walk For A Cause

JohnHart agents, staff, family, and friends gathered to Walk For A Cause in Glendale, CA on October 19, 2019

On behalf of all us at JohnHart, thank you so much to everyone who helped make our 5K Walk For a Cause a reality. Not only did we receive a flood of donations for 15 deserving charities and organizations, but over 900 people showed up to walk with us at our very first Walk For a Cause last Saturday, October 19th, 2019, making it a stellar success! In total we raised $118,242 in under 40 days, which is a fantastic amount for a first attempt, and bodes very well for the future.

Thank you especially to our sponsors for your generous donations. There is no way we could have pulled it off without you. Your donations and your presence last Saturday were both deeply appreciated. And of course, thank you to each of our charities*, who helped us in both big and small ways to ensure the success of this 5K Walk.

As a brand-spanking new employee to the JohnHart family, the turnout for a first-time event like this is awe-inspiring. The planning committee for this event did a ton of work, and the experience behind the scenes allowed me to see just how determined and collaborative this company can be. When our relentless leader Harout first informed me of the plan for the Walk in mid-September, I was skeptical about how much we could accomplish in such a short window. The sheer will of the team here — in conjunction with the efforts of the charities, our agents, and our partners — made for a truly unforgettable day. Helping in the organization and execution of this event has been one of the best introductions to a company I have ever experienced. It serves as a memorable welcome mat that I won’t forget anytime soon.

In the end, we spent a total of $13,886.66 on the entire event. This figure includes t-shirts, marketing, website build & servicing, banners and installation, insurance, refreshments, committee expenses, prizes, supplies, and the permit.

Ultimately we learned a lot from our first attempt at this event. We are very proud of what we accomplished, and our committee has learned countless valuable lessons for next time. Rest assured, our Walk For a Cause was not a one-time event, and we look forward to doing it all over again, bigger and better in 2020 (date tbd).
