About Vanessa Liddell
“I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for 40 years”. But it’s true, Vanessa has been involved in many different areas but always in the business of real estate. With her extensive background Vanessa brings a very unique set of skills and knowledge to her real estate business.
It began in 1978 when Vanessa took her first job with a title company in Bakersfield as a title assistant. Vanessa jokes that she didn’t even know what “title” was, but she quickly moved up and into the world of escrow. In her career as an escrow officer and manager, Vanessa has handled 1000’s, you heard me right, 1000’s of real estate transactions with countless numbers of buyers, sellers, real estate agents and lenders. “I think I have probably signed up over 5,000 sets of loan documents! Isn’t that crazy?”. But having that huge background in escrow and title, makes Vanessa’s clients totally confident that she is working for their best interest and that she can handle just about any issue that may come up during the sale.
In 2006, the real estate marketing was changing and Vanessa decided to change her focus to helping distressed homeowners. Once again, her real estate background and vast experience in title and escrow came to the forefront and helped her establish one of the first short sale processing companies in the country. With the market continuing to decline, Vanessa helped more and more homeowners escape foreclosure. She was also teaching and training other agents across the country how to help homeowners in their own areas. Vanessa’s background and growing list of bank contacts helped her become a top-notch short sale negotiator. Her negotiation skills are a huge part of her real estate business today.
Around 2011, Vanessa was still negotiating short sales, for her sellers and for other agents. The market started improving and though foreclosures were declining, the word was out and Vanessa suddenly had friends, family and referrals looking for a great agent to help them with their real estate needs. “I never really thought about having a real estate career after the short sales, but a funny thing happened…I fell in love with real estate, especially my buyers and sellers. And I knew that I could bring so much more to the table because of my business experience.”
And Vanessa does bring that experience, background, knowledge and a real love of real estate to each and every one of her clients. She continues to help with more complicated transactions including short sales, divorces, probates, etc., but she also finds great joy in working with 1st time homebuyers or 1st time investors and sellers looking to move up or down.
Vanessa is also a strong advocate in keeping the real estate industry strong and ethical. She is proud to be a member of the Grievance and Ethics committee for her local board.
Vanessa lives in the lovely community of Belmont Shore in Long Beach, CA with her Yorkie Bella. She is a mother of 2 beautiful daughters, Ashley and Morgan. She is also a proud grandma of 5. Vanessa loves music, hanging at the beach and riding her bicycle.
“Buying or selling is not easy. It can be stressful and even in the best cases emotional. You have to deal with strangers, schedules and lots of money. I am here to lessen or eliminate some or all of that stress. My job is to anticipate things that could be an issue and then to handle them. My job is so much more than finding homes on the MLS. I need to be involved and responsible from listing to close. Everything from contracts to loan docs, offers to negotiation, inspections to repairs. It is my responsibility to do everything in my power, drawing from experience and knowledge, to give you the best real estate experience you can have.”
